Wu Jiaru

Wu Jiaru (b. 1992, Guangdong, China) is a Hong Kong-based artist. She obtained her BA in Fine Arts and English Language from Tsinghua University in 2014, and her MFA from the School of Creative Media in City University of Hong Kong in 2017. Wu has participated in group exhibitions including KOTODAMA, Para Site, Hong Kong; Sparkle! Journal of a City Foot Soldier, Oi!, Hong Kong; The Best Is Yet To Come, K11 Chi Art Space, Hong Kong; Happily Ever After, Blindspot Gallery; 2016 SIGGRAPH ASIA, Macau; UTOPIA, Ullens Centre for Contemporary Art, Beijing; Polytypic Evolution – A Close-up Observation, OCAT, Shenzhen, China.

Wu experiments with imagined spaces and social norms in forms of installation, moving images and printed edition. Engaging with concepts of improvisation and reconstruction, her practice shows an integration between personal memories and historical narratives.
